Ich habe zwar noch nie in meinem Leben Tennis gespielt, aber auf Grund diverser Hunde schon sehr häufig Kontakt mit Tennisbällen gehabt. Dank des Videos von Benedict Redgrove weiß ich nun auch, wie so ein Tennisball produziert wird. Er hat nämlich einen Blick in eine Fabrik von Wilson (ja, die mit DEM Volleyball!) geworfen und den Prozess dort dokumentiert:
I was commissioned to make a film and shoot a set of images by ESPN for Wilson, to show the manufacturing process of their tennis balls for the US Open. We flew to the factory, shot the film and stills in one day then flew home. Its an amazingly complex manufacture, requiring 24 different processes to make the final ball. It was hot, loud and the people who worked there, worked fast. So much beauty in each stage. I love the mechanics of how things are made, it fills me with great pleasure. I hope you enjoy the film.

Heftig. Danke für den Einblick für diese stumpfe Fabrikarbeit. Da ist man froh diese monotone Arbeit nicht täglich selbst verrichten zu müssen.
Ich hätte auch nicht gedacht, dass das gelbe wirklich von Hand rangerückt wird. Dachte ist eine Art Schicht und die Zwischenräume werden erzeugt 🙂
